We all know the history of HIFU and it’s role in treating prostate cancer, however did you know the technology was first used back in the 1950’s for precision targeting of the tissues in the brain!!!   • MEET THE TEAM: SHANNON KIRKHAM Shannon is our main girl when it comes to face-face training, she’s the one you’re most likely to meet when doing your practical training sessions. She also offers treatments to clients so she’s very much in the loop and hands on. Along with offering training and treatments, Shannon is also studying for a degree in nursing due to her passion for helping others. She has completed her first year and has moved into her second year. She also recently announced her engagement to her partner, Joe, and they are currently planning their wedding which will take place in June 2024. When she’s not juggling all these things, you’ll most likely find her out walking the dog, relaxing with a tv series binge, getting pampered or heading on romantic weekends away. In all honesty though, she’s mostly work, work, work but everyone who has had the pleasure of her training them have loved her … as to her clients.   • MEET THE TEAM: EMMA KIRKHAM Emma is the director and senior educator here at Yorkshire Advanced Aesthetics. She’s the one responsible for creating the training courses, and the one you most likely speak to when you call or email us. Since her move to Portugal, she took more of a behind the scenes role but hopes to offer training retreats in the sun in the future. Emma’s career began in holistic therapies before moving onto beauty therapy and body contouring. When she created Yorkshire Advanced Aesthetics back in 2014, her mission was (and still is) to help women look and feel great about themselves. She is a trained health coach and has studied in various areas of nutrition including detox, dietary supplements and women’s hormones. She also has two health books published on Amazon, with plans for more. You can check out her author/coach instagram here: @emmalouisekirkham. She also holds a masters level PGCE in Education in the lifelong learning sector. Outside of work she loves cuddles with her German shepherd rescue dog, Lucky, getting out and about in nature and experimenting in the kitchen (often with dire results).   • Believe it or not it happens! I hear many horror stories but this is one that makes me cringe ... Substandard theory that doesn't explain the treatment and safety parameters AND being "qualified" without even doing a practical assessment on a real client! HIFU can cause serious damage if done incorrectly. How would you feel with someone firing high heat energy inside your fanny when they didn't really know what they were doing? It breaks our heart when people contact us with stories like these and say they have no confidence in doing treatment due to poor training. Luckily we are able the help.
